Swordfish, known as “Iglun” in Croatian, are apex predators in the Adriatic Sea, recognized by their elongated, sword-like bills. They are highly migratory and prefer warmer waters. Swordfish are prized for their firm, meaty texture and mild flavor. In Croatia, swordfish steaks are often grilled or pan-seared, sometimes accompanied by a sauce made from local ingredients such as capers, olives, and tomatoes.
