Locally referred to as “Škrpina”, the Scorpionfish is easily recognizable by its spiny exterior and mottled reddish-brown coloration, which provides excellent camouflage among rocky reefs. Despite its somewhat intimidating appearance, it is highly esteemed for its tender, flavorful meat. In Croatian gastronomy, Scorpionfish is often baked whole or used as a key ingredient in brodet, a traditional fish stew, where its rich flavors infuse the dish.
